Zebras’ stripe patterns are as unique as fingerprints. That uniqueness inspired this quilt. My artwork starts with visual patterns and textures. Undoubtedly that’s what made him so appealing to create and gave him a personality all his own. The sparkle in his eye existed before I added the first shiny stitch. I am particularly pleased with this piece. I decided, since I was becoming a fiber artist, I needed some formal art training, so I took a college-level Fundamentals of Design class. Drawing 101 would have been an equally apt title. I struggled with the course but learned a lot. I drew this zebra during our class and later brought him to life in fabric. During his creation, he told me that his name is Zeke.
