The rain that falls today is the same water that has fallen since the dawn of time. It is recycled through the water cycle, never losing or adding a drop. It refreshes the Earth, cleans the air and waters the plants. In this piece, I have created the kind of rain that fascinates us by the sheer amount or power of it. The drops grow as they approach and make a satisfying splat on our umbrellas. As the rain falls, we are both isolated under our umbrellas and joined with those around us as we struggle to stay dry. This piece was included in Donna DeSoto’s Inspired by the Beatles.
