My class is available to guilds and shops.
Individuals can make an appointment to come to my studio in Potomac Falls, Virginia.
We are going to have so much fun creating one-of-a-kind sneakers! You have a choice of high-tops, classics, or low-tops. The soles come in European sizes, so check your most comfy tennis shoes and find the EU size. That is what I will order for you. Soles are available in sizes 36-47. Please don’t ask for smaller than 36 or larger than 47. They don’t have them. You have a choice of black or white soles.
I’ll provide you with a form that needs to be returned to me via email. It has the information that I need to order your soles. You will return the form with $60 so I can order the soles. I must have the sole order form and money a month before class to ensure I have the soles in time.
If you have questions, please take a look at the FAQ below. If you have other questions, please email me at susanne@susannemjones.com.
I can't wait to see your Snazzy Sneakers.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to sew to make these?
A little. Most of the construction is different from traditional sewing. You will be making holes, punching holes, and installing grommets. Making a fat quarter quilt sandwich requires straight-line stitching on a sewing machine. Any beginner can do that, and it should be done in advance of class. The only other machine sewing required is sewing on the binding, which beginners can do.
How do I get the soles on?
The soles we use have pre-poked holes. To make it even easier, I will provide you with a pokey thingy. Before attaching your soles, you will go around your sole and poke the holes again to ensure they haven’t self-healed in shipping. Afterward, you will use a special needle to sew the sole to your uppers and tongues.
Does that take a lot of hand strength?
No. I have broken the radius on one arm and the scaphoid on the other. I have very little hand strength, and I have made 10 pairs.
Does it take a long time?
Including the quilting of the sandwich, I can make a pair in 5-6 hours. It will take you a little longer the first time because you have to share tools, and it is a new skill.
Can I put an orthotic in these shoes?
Yes! The insoles that come with the soles are removable and can be replaced with anything you like.
Can I order soles in a color other than black or white?
The folks I order from only offer black and white. When you make your second pair, you can hunt around to see if you can find brown anywhere.
How much does the class cost?
My fee for guilds and shop owners is $800 for 6 hours. I want everyone to go home with at least one upper sewn to the sole and grommets. I will stay until everyone has done that.
If you have just a few people, we can still have class. I will charge $100 per person plus the $60 kit fee for the soles.
If you’d like to make an appointment to be taught in my studio in Potomac Falls, VA, my fee is $100 per person plus the $60 kit fee for the soles.
What do you supply in the kit?
In your bag, you will find your soles, a pattern for your shoes, needle and waxed thread, a thimble, and a pokey thingy.
Also included are your grommets, which you will choose from a wide variety of colors.
I also include shoelaces. I have a large selection of colors.
