Each December, Williamsburg, Virginia, provides two simultaneous 18th-century-style fireworks displays on the three Saturdays before Christmas. The celebration is based on the colonial custom of illuminating public buildings to honor a sovereign’s birthday or a victory in battle. The Colonial Williamsburg Fifes and Drums entertain revelers throughout the historic town’s streets. The festivities include musicians, performers, community groups, puppets, and storytellers.
