Think joy. Bubbles, flowers, and fireworks emerge as images from childhood. This quilt celebrates the 50th anniversary of the International Quilt Festival, an event that brings quilters great joy. So, these bubbles and blooms are a tip of the hat to IQF and Karey Bresenhan, who started it all.
Traditional/Patterns
I started out to be a traditional quilter and often use patterns when making gifts. People in my family who quilted did just that. I have a beautiful Parasol Lady quilt by my great-aunt, a potholder, an apron, a stuffed clown by my grandmother, and a quilt top that I remade by my great-great-grandmother.

Granny’s Flower Garden Revisited
Growing up, my mother kept an old quilt top balled up on a closet shelf. I never questioned why the grandmother’s flower garden top wasn’t finished, who made it, or where the fabrics originated. We just moved it around. When I began to quilt in 2010, I pulled it out and looked at it carefully. […]
Zave’s Quilt
I love you to the Moon and back took on new meaning after I curated the Fly Me to the Moon Collection. Family members gifted me with necklaces, bracelets, and mugs. Cards were signed that way, and it became a favorite family phrase. So, when my grandson was on the way, I knew precisely which […]
